The intent of these educational seminars & workshops are to explore possible new approaches to increase access to care for those with hepatitis C in isolated communities. Some of these communities are expected to have a high prevalence of hepatitis C, but are under-represented in treatment programs and unaware of recent advances in treatment options. The program aims to increase identification and develop pathways towards possible treatment of those with the hepatitis C virus (HCV) in the region. The ultimate goal would be to provide the best quality, most appropriate and effective model of HCV care that reduces overlaps, duplication and gaps in this care. This requires an approach that is integrated through partnerships to meet increased need for testing, diagnosis, management, support and ultimately treatment in this population. To do so requires education of health care professionals to undertake this task.

This activity is supported by educational grants from AbbVie, Bristol-Myers Squibb, and Gilead Sciences.
